First Aid Training: A Must for All Pet Owners

May 7th, 2011

Pet First Aid is the immediate and temporary care given to a sick or injured pet until it can be taken to a veterinarian for more comprehensive care.  While pet first aid is in no way meant to replace veterinary care, it can make the difference between a positive and a tragic outcome, and it can keep small problems from becoming big issues.

In a pet first aid class, you will learn how to keep your pet’s health history, emergency contact information, stock a pet first aid kit, take vital signs to monitor for choking & poisoning, perform rescue breathing and CPR, provide immediate care for common pet problems and emergencies, be proactive in preventing emergencies and lots more!

Sara Beavin, a Pet First Aid Instructor certified by the American Red Cross, offers a variety of classes in pet first aid, head to tail health & wellness assessment, disaster preparedness, and pet care and bite prevention for children.  For more information, or for immediate assistance call 800-696-3873.
